Baka Siguro Yata from beginning to end was testing the waters to seek for effective punch lines. Sometimes it tickles the funny bone but often times become too politically incorrect to be laughed at. The film subtly denounces homosexuality, vilifies abortion, and stands for sexism. With its too long stay in the waters, the film turned out to be too saggy, wet, and unappealing.

After Jim Libiran’s Ninja Party brouhaha, it is difficult to watch again an independent film that speaks of house parties. Yet, Director Jill Singson Urdaneta proved that he can tackle more than alcohol and women’s breasts. His film brings the audience into a psychedelic experience brought by the excessive use of drugs. Through its simple yet effective method, the crowd is given a first-hand experience of being on cloud nine.

In our juvenile days, we did things that are intended to be taken with us in our graves. They are unpleasant. They are never to be remembered. Yet, these nightmares will continue to wake us up in the middle of the night and remind us of our naivety. For director Jim Libiran, his creation Ninja Party is one nightmare that will haunt him eternally. It is a flop that will need a lot of redeeming to do.

Here is a film that does not abide to the saleable formula created by mainstream cinema. Imbedded in the concepts of addiction, teenage angst, maturity, friendship, filial relationship, and many others, 10,000 Saints challenges the viewers to value complexity, question the popular, and appreciate reality.
